"sichi-fukujin" is the seven (sichi or nana in japanese) of good luck.
Shichi-fukujin are the seven gods that bring gool luck. They are representative of gods and holy persons in Buddhism, Shintosism and Taoism and are often drawn riding in a treasure ship. It has been said that people put together seven gods of good luck and came to belive in them.
Shichi-fukujin became widely known in the Muromachi period
(1333-1573). Nowadays, at temples and shrines with shichifuku-jin connections, people pray for long life and family well-being, and merchants, hoping for business success, display shichi-fukujin pictures.
